Cheese Scones
Ingredients:
6 oz of self raising flour
4 oz of chedder cheese (or whatever you want)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1 level teaspoon of mustard powder
1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne pepper
1 egg
2 table spoons of milk
1 oz of margerine
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder (optional)
Making the scones:
Step 1 -
Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 7.
Step 2 -
Grate the cheese and put some to the side (to sprinkle on top later).
Step 3 -
Mix the grated cheese, flour, salt, mustard powder, pepper and margerine together in a bowl.
Step 4 -
Beat the egg then mix it with the milk.
Step 5 -
Put some of the egg and milk mixture asside then mix the rest with the cheese, flour, etc.
Step 6 -
Flour a wooden board then roll out the mixture onto it, flour the top of it si it isn't sticky.
Step 7 -
Cut into desired shapes (I usually make circles, they're the easiest).
Step 8 -
Put some of the egg mix on the tops of your shapes then sprinkle some cheese on top of that.
Step 9 -
Put in the oven for eight minutes then check.
Step 10 -
If extra time is needed, make sure you check them every two minutes or so.
